Overview

This article aims to describe how to turn the Plesk mail service off for a specific domain.

This may be necessary if the Mail Service is left on and your emails are hosted externally (eg, at Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace), as your website may try and deliver emails locally to the server, causing such emails to not be received.

Instructions

  1. Login to Plesk
  2. On the left in Plesk Select Mail:

  3. Next, click on Mail Settings:

Not configured: Emails are External and using a External SMTP Service to send Emails from Website.

If you are unsure which option to choose, select Disable for incoming mail.

If you select Not Configured you will be prompted to also select –
Permanently remove all mailboxes of the affected domains, including received and sent emails.
Only choose this option if you are 100% confident your domain emails are being hosted externally to your Website Hosting, (eg, at Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace).
