This support article steps you through the process of making a copy of an existing database. This can be helpful when testing new software versions so that you don’t interfere with the live site and data.


  1. Once logged in to Plesk click on the “Websites & Domains” tab. Click on “Databases”:
  2. Click on the database that is to be copied:
  3. Click on Make a Copy:
  4. Give the database a meaning full name, preferably with the date included for future reference, then click OK:
  5. Under the databases list the copy that was just created is now listed.
