Overview
This article shows you how to disable the Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration (ESC) for Administrators on a Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 system. While Conetix highly recommends this setting is left on, some older software has compatibility issues when it's left enabled. By default, the ESC mode is turned on for Administrators and turned off for Users.
For more detail on what ESC does, please read the following TechNet article: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd883248(v=ws.10).aspx
Instructions
- Login to your Windows 2008 R2 system.
- Open the Server Manager:
- On the right hand side, click on the "Configure IE ESC" link.
- In the window which pops up, click on the "off" checkbox for the Administrator:
- You have now turned off the ESC mode for Internet Explorer.
