Move Addon Domain to Existing or New Subscription on your Plesk VPS

Overview

This article describes how to move a Addon Domain under an existing Plesk Subscription or to it’s New Plesk Subscription.
This process will be required when the Main Subscription is no longer required e.g. Domain Name no longer registered, with the Addon Domain still Live and required, or moving Addon Domain to a new Plesk Customer/Subscription.

Instructions

Moving Addon Domain

1. Log in to Plesk as admin user.
2. Click on Subscriptions in the lefthand Nav.
   
3. Next, Search for and click on the Subscription where the Domain Addon resides.
   
4. Next click on Move domain for the Addon Domain to be moved to Existing or New Subscription.
   
5. You will now be presented with 2 options.
   Move under another Available Subscription or Create a new Subscription.
   
6. For this example we are Creating a new subscription.
   (Alternatively you would just search for the existing available Subscription.)
   Enter a Username (FTP), Generate or type in custom password, Then Ok.
   
   
7. Depending on how large the Addon Domain hosting is, can take 1 to 10mins to complete.
   

Moving Databases

Databases are not moved when moving a Addon Domain, ONLY Website Files, Mailbox’s are moved.

1. To move corresponding database/s we need to find and confirm in the moved Addon Domain Website config files (e.g. wp-config.php for WordPress and configuration.php for Joomla) the correct Database/s.
2. Once you confirm Database/s to be moved, navigate back to the subscription from where the Addon Domain was moved from and click on Databases tab.
   
3. Next find Database/s and click on Move to Subscription, Search for new subscription, Ok.
   
   
4. Navigate back to the New Subscription -> Databases to confirm Database moved successfully.
   
5. Once Addon Domain has been moved to new Subscription you will need to check Website is loading as expected, any issues check Website Error logs – https://conetix.com.au/support/plesk-view-website-error-logs/
6. Task Completed.

If the moved Addon Domain DNS is with Conetix, DNS will require re-syncing, please contact Conetix Support to confirm.
