Overview
When sending an email to an account hosted by Google Workspace or a gmail.com domain, you may receive the following error:
Our system has detected that this message is 550-5.7.1 likely unsolicited mail. To reduce the amount of spam sent to Gmail, 550-5.7.1 this message has been blocked.
Issue
This bounced email occurs because the domain doesn’t have a valid Sender Policy Framework (SPF) record or the SPF record doesn’t properly include the server the emails are hosted with.
You can verify your SPF record here: https://www.dmarcanalyzer.com/spf/checker/
Fix
To correct the issue, you’ll need to ensure you’ve either added an SPF record or that the SPF record contains the server that you’re sending email through. A valid record may look something like:
v=spf1 ip4:<IPADDRESS> +a +mx -all
For more information about SPF records, we have a detailed SPF Guide available.
If the emails and DNS are hosted by Conetix, this record should already be correctly configured for you. Please contact our to our friendly support team if you require any assistance or to confirm the records are configured correctly.
