Overview

This article will cover how to use Plesk to create a backup of your website files and database (if applicable) in .ZIP format, for you to download to your computer.

You may wish to create & download such a backup file prior to cancelling a web hosting service with Conetix.

Instructions

  1. Login into Plesk via the Conetix Control Panel.

If your website does not utilise a Database, please skip to Step 5.

  1. Click on Databases from the left-hand menu;

  2. Under your website’s Database, click Export Dump;

  3. Select the Root Directory as the location to save the database dump, then click OK;

    If you have multiple databases, you may wish to repeat these two steps and export all related databases for your website.
  4. Click Files from the left-hand menu, then click on the Home Directory;

  5. Tick the boxes next to;
    • Your website’s file directory – if you only have 1 website in your hosting plan, this will be the httpdocs folder.
      If you are backing up an ‘addon’ website, its folder may instead be named the website’s domain name – eg, “example.com”.
    • The Database files that were created earlier.

  6. Click the Archive button, then choose Add to Archive;

  7. Enter a Name for the file, and click OK;

  8. Once the ZIP has been created, click the drop-down menu to the far-right of the file, and choose Download;

  9. Once downloaded, store the backup file somewhere safe for future use – eg, copy it to an external Hard Drive or USB drive.
