Overview

GTmetrix is a great tool for developers to assist with analysing website performance. It includes a number of features such as real browser testing, Google Lighthouse integration and will provide suggestions as to where improvements can be made.

By default, the tests run from Vancouver, Canada:

As Conetix is an Australian hosting provider (with servers located in Brisbane), running tests from the closest location to our hosting will give the most accurate results and most representative of real user experiences.

Instructions

To run the testing from Sydney by default, you need to do the following:

  1. Login to your GTmetrix account:
    running gtmetrix testing from sydney, australia
    (If you don’t have an existing account, free ones are available)
  2. Go to your Account area:
    running gtmetrix testing from sydney, australia
  3. Set the default for testing to Sydney, Australia:
    running gtmetrix testing from sydney, australia
  4. Save the settings and return to the main screen. You should see that the default is now set to Sydney:
