Setup IMAP/POP Account on the Outlook App for Android

Overview

This article covers how to add your Conetix-hosted IMAP or POP email account to Microsoft’s Outlook app on your Android-based devices – such as a Samsung phone or tablet.

The Outlook app is free and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store.
If you have not yet installed the app, please do so before proceeding.

Instructions

1. Open the Outlook app.
2. If this is the first email you’ve ever added to the app, skip to Step 7.
   If you already have at least 1 other email account in the app, from your Inbox view, tap the round icon in the top-left corner of the screen:
   

3. Tap the Settings icon in the bottom-left of the screen:
   

4. Tap the Accounts button:
   

5. Tap the Add Account button:
   

6. Tap the Add An Email Account button:

7. Tap the Add Account button:
   

8. Type in the email address you’d like to add to Outlook:
   

9. Tap either IMAP or POP, depending on which account type you would like to use.
   For most cases IMAP will be the most suitable option:
   

10. Enter the settings for your email account in the following fields:

• Email Address: Your email address
• Display Name: The name your recipients will see when they receive an email from you
• Description: Something to help you identify which account is which
   
• IMAP/POP Host Name: Usually the domain name of your email address – consult Conetix Support if you are unsure
• Port: 993 for IMAP, or 995 for POP
• Security Type: SSL/TLS
• IMAP/POP Username: Your email address
• IMAP/POP Password: The password for your email account
   
• SMTP Host Name: Usually the domain name of your email address.
  For those on our non-relay plans (Business Starter & some legacy plans), please refer to your ISP’s SMTP Server settings.
• Port: 465 or 587
• Security Type: SSL/TLS
• SMTP Username: Your email address
• SMTP Password: The password for your email account

11. Once the above settings have been entered, tap the Tick icon in the top-right of the screen.
12. If the account was added successfully, you will be asked if you’d like to add another email account. Tap Maybe Later, unless you wished to add a second account:
    

13. You will now be returned to your Inbox, and have completed the setup process.
