At times you may want to download a copy of a Plesk backup to retain locally. In this article we’ll steps you through downloading a copy of an existing Plesk backup.

Instructions

  1. Log into the Plesk panel for your hosting subscription.
    (VPS customers can log straight into Plesk)
  2. Ensure you are on the Website & Domains page. Websites & Domains is opened by default for shared customers. However if you had Plesk open previously or you have your own server you may be on a different page.
  3. In the menu on the right click Backup & Restore:

If you don’t see the button for Backup & Restore click the icon shown in the screenshot below:

  1. Click the Creation Date of the backup you want to download:

  2. On the individual backup age, click Download underneath the size of the backup:

  3. Enter a Password to secure passwords of Plesk users, emails and database users:

    If you’re sure your storage location is secure, you can bypass this step.
  4. Click OK and the backup will begin to download to your computer:

  5. Speed of the backup download will depend on your Internet connection speed.

The file that downloads will be a .tzst format archive file. These files can only be opened by 3rd party archive software such as PeaZip.
