This guide steps you through the process of using the autoinstaller to install and configure Parallels Plesk 12.
Before you Start
There are a few quick items to check before proceeding with your installation. By ensuring that you follow these instructions you’ll ensure that you have a smooth installation.
- Plesk 12 supports a wide range of Linux releases, including all of the commonly used distributions like CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian and CloudLinux. You can verify that your preferred distribution is supported by viewing the page here.
- If you already have a preconfigured server (running web services and/or other software), we highly recommend starting with a fresh installation. There are upgrade paths supported if your server is running Plesk already, however Conetix highly recommends using a fresh installation and then using the Plesk migration tool to transfer from the old server.
- Check that your server meets the system resource requirements. Conetix recommends at least 1GB of RAM for all installations. If you’re planning to run busy websites, use features like ModSecurity or run a large number of websites, this will require more memory. You can read the minimum requirements here.
- SSH to your server as the root user.
- Run the following:
wget -O - http://autoinstall.plesk.com/one-click-installer | sh
This will download the autoinstaller and begin the installation. This part of the process may take up to 10 minutes to complete.
Once this is complete, you’ll be able to access your Plesk server via the web management interface. To do this, open a browser and point it to https://yourserverip:8443
After accepting the self-signed SSL certificate, you should be greeted with a login screen:
This will then step you through the process of accepting the End User License Agreement and the initial configuration steps for your Plesk server.
