Overview

Plesk allows you to protect directories on your website with a username and password. This is useful if you need to block a specific URL or the entire website, such as staging or development copies of your site.

Instructions

  1. Login to your Plesk server or Conetix Control Panel.
  2. Click Websites and Domains

  3. Select Password-Protected Directories

  4. Select Add Protected Directory

  5. Enter the directory name and if required name of the protected area.

  6. Select the recently created protected directory

  7. Select Add a user

  8. Enter the username and password of your choice

  9. The directory will now be protected

Information

If your website requests the URL you have protected you may need to replace the URL references with the direct file/folder path as it is on the server.
