Overview

This support article describes how to create a new MSSQL database in Plesk and then import a MSSQL backup. This is typically done when migrating a website or when moving from a local development environment to a live server.

Instructions

  1. Login into Plesk via the Conetix Control Panel.
  2. Next click on Databases in the lefthand Nav:
    plesk obsidian – create and import a mssql database
  3. Next, Click Add Database:
    plesk obsidian – create and import a mssql database
  4. Enter the relevant details, Database NameMSSQL Database typeDatabase UserPassword, Confirm password then Ok.

  5. Click on Import Dump for the newly created Database to restore MSSQL backup:
    plesk obsidian – create and import a mssql database
  6. Select your MSSQL backup file either by browsing your local computer or under your hosting folder (if you have already transferred it via FTP):
    plesk obsidian – create and import a mssql database
    Import database backup task will start and display progress.
    plesk obsidian – create and import a mssql database
    Import completed
    plesk obsidian – create and import a mssql database
  7. You have now successfully created and imported a MSSQL database.
    plesk obsidian – create and import a mssql database
