Overview

This support article outlines to go retrieve email headers for an email received in in Microsoft Outlook 2003 and 2007. Every email sent around the world contains "header" information including sender, recipient, subject, sending time stamp, email transfer information. This can often be very useful in diagnosing an email issues, as it provides details of how an email was send and through what servers.

Instructions

  1. In Outlook, double click on the email for which you need the headers.

  2. Click on “File”.

  3. Click on “Properties”.

  4. In the “Properties” window that opens up, the headers can be found under “Internet Headers”. These details can be highlighted and copied.

  5. Click Close.
  6. Copy these details in an email and send it to containing the email issue you are experiencing.
