In August 2023, Microsoft changed how Cloud Service Providers (CSP) like Conetix managed access to client’s Microsoft tenancies. This change was from Delegated Admin Privileges (DAP) to Granular Delegated Admin Privileges (GDAP).
Microsoft automatically configured a legacy DAP relationship with existing tenancies that were with Conetix before August 2023, and this allowed us to continue to assist and manage tenancies for our clients, however it came with a time limit of 1 year.
As we approach August 2024 a number of the automatically configured legacy DAP connections are coming up to expire, causing Tenancy Admins to be notified of this by email – an example of this email can be found below;
Conetix will configure a new GDAP relationship with your tenancy to ensure we can continue to provide support to our Microsoft clients, and we have found that the connection can be configured to last from anywhere between 6 months and up to 2 years.
Where necessary however, we will be renewing the existing legacy DAP relationships to ensure we can continue to provide support until the new GDAP relationships have been implemented.
Please note that you will receive an email for the renewal of the legacy DAP relationship around the end of July 2024, then again when the GDAP relationship is configured in the following weeks afterwards.
If you wished to read up on the release of Granular Delegated Admin Privileges (GDAP), please see Microsoft’s announcement on it back in August 2023.
