Overview

This support article describes how to update mail settings in Microsoft Outlook, 2019, 2021 and 2024.
Older versions of Outlook are no longer supported by both Microsoft and Conetix, per our article on Out of Date Software.
Your mail server settings may need to be updated when you transfer your Web hosting to Conetix and/or subscribe to our Mail Relay enabled hosting plan.

Instructions

  1. Open Outlook, then click File.

  2. Next Info, then drop down arrow next to Account Settings, then Manage Profiles:

  3. Click on Email Accounts…

  4. Select the email account then Change:

Update Mail server hostname

  1. Update Incoming mail server & Outgoing mail server (SMTP) with mail.domainyourname.tld (Replace domainname.tld with YOUR domain name).outlook classic - update email settings

Enable (SMTP) Authentication

  1. Click on More Settings.

  2. Next click on Outgoing Server tab.
  3. Tick My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication &
    Use same settings as my incoming mail server.

Update Ports / Enable SSL

  1. Update Ports & SSL settings as per below.
    Incoming server (IMAP): 993
    Encrypted connection: SSL/TLS
    Outgoing server (SMTP): 465
    Encrypted connection: SSL/TLS
    Then OK

  2. Click Next, Outlook will test the new settings.

    Green ticks: Settings are correct and working, then click Close.
    Red crosses: Settings are incorrect. You will need to go back and confirm the new details have been entered correctly
  3. Click Finish to save.
